US Sources: Vance to Depart for Islamabad Tuesday to Negotiate with Iran

SadaNews - JD Vance, the U.S. Vice President, is expected to depart for Islamabad on Tuesday to conduct negotiations with Iran regarding a potential agreement to end the war, according to three U.S. sources reported by the news site "Axios".

Vance will arrive in the capital of Pakistan at a time when the ceasefire is nearing its end, while U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb bridges and Iranian power stations if an agreement is not reached.

Vance is also expected to be accompanied by Washington's envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law.

Despite the difficulty of reaching a comprehensive agreement within this tight timeline, Trump may agree to extend the deadline if signs of progress emerge.

The U.S. President has already added another day; while the agreed two-week truce ends on Tuesday, he stated on Monday that the new deadline is Wednesday evening.

According to "Axios", the White House spent the entire day on Monday waiting for a signal from Tehran indicating the deployment of the negotiating team to Islamabad.

A knowledgeable source reported that there is pressure from the Revolutionary Guard on the negotiators to maintain a firmer stance on rejecting any talks before ending the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports.

Pakistani, Egyptian, and Turkish mediators have urged Tehran to attend the meeting, and the Iranian team was waiting for the green light from the Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, which was reportedly issued on Monday evening, according to an "Axios" source.
