Emirati Authorities Announce the Dismantling of an Organization Linked to Iran

SadaNews - The Emirates announced on Monday the dismantling of an organization it claimed was linked to Iran, which was planning to carry out "systematic terrorist and sabotage actions" inside the country, with the arrest of all its members.

The Emirati State Security Service confirmed, in an official statement, that the operation thwarted a secret plot aimed at undermining national unity and destabilizing the country, noting that investigations revealed the organization's link to what is known as the "Guardianship of the Jurist" in Iran.

The service explained that the organization's members adopted extremist ideologies that threaten internal security and worked to attract and recruit individuals through secret meetings, as part of a coordinated plan with foreign entities, aiming to infiltrate sensitive sites within the state.

According to the official news agency (WAM), investigations revealed that members of the organization held meetings inside and outside the Emirates with individuals linked to suspicious organizations, with the aim of spreading misleading ideas among Emirati youth and recruiting them for foreign allegiances, as well as inciting against state policies and attempting to tarnish its image.

Monitoring operations also revealed that network members were collecting money through unofficial means and transferring it to external entities in support of the organization’s activities.

The Emirati news agency broadcast a video showing the raid operation and the arrest of the cell's members, along with the publication of their photos and names.

The charges against the detainees include establishing and managing a secret organization within the state, signing pledges and foreign allegiances, in addition to harming national unity and community peace.

The State Security Service emphasized its commitment to firmly counter any threats to public security, calling on citizens and residents to report any suspicious activity through official channels, to enhance the security and stability system in the country.

Similar Operation

Last month, the Emirati State Security Service announced the dismantling of a "terrorist network" that it said was funded and managed by Hezbollah and Iran, and the arrest of its members.

The service mentioned that "network members were operating within the state under the guise of a fictitious commercial cover," according to the Emirati news agency (WAM).

It added that the plot "aimed to infiltrate the national economy and implement foreign plans to destabilize the country's financial stability."

The service clarified that the network "operated according to a previously prepared strategic plan with external parties to commit money laundering and financing terrorism, in clear violation of economic regulations and applicable laws, compromising the security of the homeland and its higher interests."

It stressed that "any attempt to exploit civil institutions or the national economy for conspiratorial purposes will be met with firmness and strength."

The service affirmed "the state’s commitment to confront any external interference aimed at destabilizing stability, regardless of its source or the cover behind it."

Iranian Attacks

With the outbreak of war between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other, the Emirates has become one of the primary targets for Iranian attacks, despite Abu Dhabi officially declaring that it is not a party to the conflict.

According to data from the Emirati Ministry of Defense and international reports, the country has faced a wide series of attacks, including the launch of more than 438 ballistic missiles and approximately 2012 drones targeting sites within its territories, while defense systems like "THAAD" and "Patriot" successfully intercepted and destroyed the majority of these threats.

These attacks targeted strategic sites within the state, including Al-Dhafra Air Base in Abu Dhabi, which houses American forces, along with vital facilities and airports, with damages recorded at Dubai International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport due to falling debris from interceptions or limited direct strikes, leading to injuries among civilians and a temporary disruption of air traffic.

The attacks also targeted economic and oil facilities, including Jebel Ali Port and facilities belonging to "ADNOC," in addition to energy facilities and industrial areas, as well as other military sites in Abu Dhabi.

These strikes, according to the same data, resulted in civilian and military casualties, with reports indicating the deaths of two soldiers and 11 civilians, in addition to injuries to more than 220 individuals, some as a result of debris falling in residential areas.

Iran justified these attacks, arguing that the presence of American bases on Emirati territory makes it part of the American security system, indicating that targeting the Emirates is part of a deterrent strategy and aims to send political and military messages, as well as to exert pressure on the regional economic environment. Tehran also accused Tel Aviv and Washington of launching attacks on it from Emirati territory.

In light of this escalation, the Emirates entered a state of maximum defensive alert, enhancing its security cooperation with allies and seeking additional technical and military support to ensure protection for its vital facilities and the stability of its economy in the event of continued tensions in the region.
