Michigan and Virginia Attacks Raise Security Concerns
SadaNews - Two attacks, targeting a Jewish synagogue in Michigan and a university in Virginia, have heightened security concerns in the United States, amid escalating tensions in the American-Israeli war against Iran.
The Michigan attack took place in West Bloomfield, when Ayman Mohammed Ghazali, a 41-year-old born in Lebanon, crashed his car into the "Temple Israel" synagogue, before being shot dead by security personnel.
While an investigation is still ongoing to determine the precise motive, a local official confirmed that Ghazali was experiencing personal trauma after the deaths of four family members, including two brothers and two children, in an Israeli airstrike on Lebanon days earlier.
This attack comes against the backdrop of heightened security since the start of American and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28. Reuters reported on an American intelligence assessment that Iran and its allies might target the United States or its interests in response to the escalation, with a particular likelihood of increasing cyberattacks and limited operations rather than a large-scale attack on U.S. soil.
