Axios: Rubio Expects War with Iran to Continue for Weeks

SadaNews - Reports on Friday indicated that military operations against Iran could last for several more weeks, during which Israeli airstrikes targeted a fortified command center beneath the complex of the late Iranian Supreme Leader.

The "Axios" website reported that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a series of calls with Arab foreign ministers on Thursday, during which he clarified that the war is expected to continue for several more weeks.

The source added that Rubio confirmed the military effort is currently focused on destroying Iranian missile launch platforms, stockpiles, and manufacturing facilities.

Rubio emphasized that Washington's goal is not to "change the regime," but he also indicated the desire of the United States to see "different people" managing the country.

The U.S. official stressed that there are currently no dialogues with Tehran, considering that any talks at this time could undermine military objectives.

Strike on the "Emergency Command Center"

The Israeli army spokesman, Ivi Duvrin, stated that fighter jets bombed on Friday a heavily fortified shelter located beneath the complex of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, which is considered an "emergency command center."

Duvrin added that Israeli estimates suggest that high-ranking Iranian officials have used the shelter in recent days, noting that assessments are still ongoing to determine who was present inside at the time of the attack.

Decline in Missile Capabilities

In a related context, officials in Washington and Tel Aviv revealed a sharp decline in Iranian offensive capabilities.

The U.S. Central Command leader, Brad Cooper, stated that Iranian missile attacks have decreased by 90 percent.

U.S. and Israeli officials estimated on Thursday that around 60 percent of the Iranian missile launch platforms and stockpiles have been destroyed so far.
