Danish Pension Fund Decides to Withdraw from US Treasury Bonds
SadaNews - The Danish pension fund AkademikerPension has announced its intention to sell its entire holdings of US Treasury bonds, estimated at around 100 million dollars, before the end of this month, citing what it described as the weak financial situation of the US government, according to SadaEconomy translation.
The fund clarified in a statement reported by Reuters that the decision has no political implications and is not related to the ongoing tensions between Denmark and the United States regarding the Greenland file, as per SadaEconomy translation.
Anders Schild, the fund's investment manager, stated that "the decision is based on the decline in the robustness of US public finances, which prompts us to look for alternative ways to manage liquidity and risks," emphasizing that the step is not directly linked to the political disputes between the United States and Europe, although such an atmosphere has not made the decision difficult.
According to SadaEconomy translation, AkademikerPension manages assets estimated at around 164 billion Danish kroner, equivalent to approximately 25.7 billion dollars, according to information on its website.
