Child from Deir Ammar Village Dies After Being Prevented from Reaching Hospital by Occupation Forces

SadaNews - A child was martyred this evening, Sunday, after Israeli occupation forces prevented his family from passing through a military checkpoint set up at the entrance of Deir Ammar village, west of Ramallah.

The Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Laila Ghanem, stated that doctors at the Arab Consultative Hospital announced the martyrdom of the infant Ahmad Ma'rouf Zaid (4 months old), after occupation forces prevented his transfer to the hospital for more than an hour through the military checkpoint at the entrance of Deir Ammar village.

Ghanem indicated in a post on her Facebook page that the infant, who was not yet four months old, was on his way to receive treatment when occupation soldiers prevented his family from passing to provide him with assistance, ignoring his critical condition while firing tear gas canisters at the residents and vehicles, thus depriving him of his right to timely medical care, leading to his later death.

She stated that what happened to the child Ahmad, who was the only male child in the family and was born after years of waiting, is a disgrace on humanity’s forehead and is in line with the terrorist policies adopted by the occupation through military checkpoints and closures, obstructing the movement of citizens, patients, and ambulances, violating the most basic rights, foremost of which is the right to life and movement.

She added that targeting our people and our children, whether by the assaults of settler gangs or by cold-blooded killings or by depriving them of treatment and leaving them to face death at checkpoints, reveals the true face of this occupation that does not hesitate to target childhood, while the unjust world looks on and remains paralyzed in the face of our people's suffering, doing nothing whenever the victim is Palestinian.
