Palestinian Statistics: Decline in the Industrial Production Index in Palestine During May of This Year

SadaNews - The industrial production index recorded a decline of 1.15% during May 2026 compared to April 2026, with the index falling to 75.79 in May 2026 compared to 76.68 in April 2026 (base year 2019 = 100).

The movement of industrial production quantities across the main economic activities during May 2026 compared to the previous month

Activities related to electricity, gas, steam supply, and air conditioning recorded a decline of 7.98%, which constitutes a relative importance of 7.38% of total industrial activities.

Activities in mining and quarrying recorded a decline of 4.56%, accounting for a relative importance of 2.89% of total industrial activities.

Water supply and sewage activities, along with waste management and treatment activities, recorded a decline of 0.54%, with a relative importance of 1.84% of total industrial activities.

Manufacturing activities also recorded a decline of 0.16% during May 2026 compared to the previous month, comprising a relative importance of 87.89% of total industrial activities.

Regarding sub-activities that have significant relative impact on the overall index, some manufacturing activities experienced a decline during May 2026 compared to the previous month, notably; production of non-metallic mineral products, food production, tobacco manufacturing, paper and paper products manufacturing, printing and reproduction of recorded media, leather production and related products, and manufacturing of rubber and plastics.

On the other hand, the index saw an increase in some manufacturing activities, the most significant of which are; production of fabricated metal products excluding machinery and equipment, chemical and chemical products manufacturing, furniture production, basic pharmaceutical products and preparations manufacturing, clothing manufacturing, beverage production, and textile manufacturing.
