Prisoners Club: Transfer of Dr. Abu Safiyeh to the 'Rakaift' Division Raises Concerns for His Safety

SadaNews - The Prisoners Club stated that the available data regarding the detained doctor, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiyeh, indicates that he has been transferred to a section known as "Rakaift," which is described by Palestinian human rights entities as one of the highly secured sections inside prisons, amid increasing concerns about his health and mental condition.

The Prisoners Club added in a statement that Abu Safiyeh is still held without any official charges, under what is known as the "Unlawful Combatants Law," amid fears of the conditions of his detention and the ongoing tensions regarding his health and mental status inside the prisons.

The statement pointed out that the continued detention of medical staff from the Gaza Strip, including Abu Safiyeh, comes within the context of targeting health personnel, calling on international human rights organizations, the Red Cross, and the United Nations for urgent intervention to ensure their protection and release.

The Prisoners Club held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the life of Abu Safiyeh and the rest of the medical staff and prisoners, and also held the countries and entities providing political and military support to the occupation responsible for the continuation of these crimes and serious violations of international law.

The Prisoners Club emphasized that condemnation statements have lost their practical effect in the face of the systematic policy of extermination and the physical and psychological destruction faced by the prisoners.

The statement concluded with words from Dr. Abu Safiyeh to his lawyer, "This is the last time you will see me... They brought me here to kill me. I do not see myself alive. This is the end."
