Israeli Airstrikes in Southern Lebanon, Zamir Threatens Hezbollah from Qal'at al-Shuqif

SadaNews - The Israeli army continued its violations of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon today, Sunday, carrying out an airstrike on the town of Nabatiyya al-Fawqa, detonating an explosion in the town of Tayr, and artillery shelling near the town of al-Qantara, in addition to flying drones over southern Lebanon. Meanwhile, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir threatened Hezbollah with a "swift attack."

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced one death in the past 24 hours, raising the total toll due to Israeli aggression on the country since March 2 to 4,304 fatalities.

It also reported that the number of injuries increased to 12,203 after one injury was recorded in the last 24 hours.

The ministry did not clarify whether the deceased fell in the last 24 hours or was recovered from areas previously bombed.

Airstrikes and Artillery Fire

The Israeli army carried out an airstrike on the town of Nabatiyya al-Fawqa in southern Lebanon.

For its part, the Israeli army announced that it attacked a "cell" affiliated with Hezbollah in the Aqida area in southern Lebanon, claiming it posed a threat to its forces.

It added that the "cell was active on motorcycles in the Aqida area near the security zone where the army operates."

Prior to this, Israeli media, including Channels 12 and 14, reported that the Israeli army had launched airstrikes in the Merfat Ali al-Tahir area in southern Lebanon and carried out attacks targeting what it described as "armed elements" in the region.

These sources reported that the Upper Galilee Regional Council informed residents that they would hear explosions due to the attacks in southern Lebanon, while military reports mentioned two airstrikes targeting two elements who Israel claimed posed a threat on the ground to Israeli forces.

At the same time, the Lebanese news agency reported that the Israeli army carried out an explosion in the town of Tayr in the district of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon.

Artillery fire was recorded towards the town of al-Qantara in the south, according to the agency, while an Israeli drone dropped a sound bomb on the town of al-Mansouri in the district of Tyre.

Drone flights were recorded in the skies of villages and towns surrounding the city of Tyre.

These airstrikes, shelling operations, and repeated violations in Lebanon come despite the framework agreement signed on June 26, which stipulates a gradual Israeli withdrawal from all occupied Lebanese territories.

Zamir in Qal'at al-Shuqif

In a notable field development, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir threatened to launch a "swift attack" if the ceasefire agreement was violated, during an inspection tour he conducted in the Qal'at al-Shuqif area in southern Lebanon, accompanied by a number of military leaders.

Zamir stated, according to an Israeli army statement, that "the area of the Boufour (Qal'at al-Shuqif) is a strategic site that controls a vast area," adding that it contains what he described as "military infrastructure for Hezbollah."

He also called on the Lebanese army to fulfill its obligations and work to prevent the presence of Hezbollah elements in those areas, while simultaneously ignoring the ongoing daily Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement.

The Israeli Defense Minister had previously announced control over Qal'at al-Shuqif, describing it as an important strategic point on the northern border, while Hezbollah denied this narrative, confirming that the site was empty when Israeli forces entered it.

Qal'at al-Shuqif is considered one of the most prominent strategic sites in southern Lebanon and has historically witnessed repeated military confrontations. Israeli forces withdrew from it in 2000, ending their presence in what became known as the security zone in the south of the country.
