Israeli Forces Renew Incursion into Syrian Territories Following Paris Talks
SadaNews - The official Syrian news agency "SANA" reported that "Israeli occupation forces intruded this morning, Wednesday, into the villages of Al-Razaniyah and Saida al-Hanout in the southern Quneitra countryside."
It was clarified that "a force of the occupation, consisting of two vehicles, moved from the entrance of Abu Ghithar Hill towards the villages of Al-Razaniyah and Saida al-Hanout, before withdrawing later without establishing barriers or conducting searches of homes."
This violation of Syrian sovereignty comes despite an agreement between Syria and Israel, on Tuesday, to form a joint communication mechanism overseen by the U.S. to coordinate information exchange, reduce military escalation, diplomatic engagement, and trade opportunities, according to a trilateral statement following talks in Paris.
Israel has occupied most of the Syrian Golan Heights since 1967, having exploited the chaos that engulfed Syria following the ousting of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, declaring the collapse of the disengagement agreement and occupying the Syrian buffer zone.
Currently, Damascus and Tel Aviv are engaged in U.S.-mediated negotiations to reach a security agreement. The Syrian government insists on the condition for the withdrawal of Israeli forces to the lines prior to December 8 of last year.
It is noted that the Quneitra countryside experiences almost daily Israeli incursions, during which Israeli forces arrest Syrian citizens, establish checkpoints to search passersby and interrogate them, in addition to deliberately damaging agricultural lands.
