Delsi Rodriguez Takes the Oath of Office as Acting President of Venezuela

SadaNews - Delsi Rodriguez officially took the oath of office as the acting President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in a ceremony held before the National Assembly (parliament). During the ceremony, the President of the Parliament, Jorge Rodriguez, announced: "I declare: You, citizen Delsi Eluina Rodriguez Gomez, are granted the powers of the interim president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Congratulations." Rodriguez previously held the position of executive vice president in the government of the detained president, Nicolas Maduro. Earlier today, the parliamentary executive council announced its decision to install Rodriguez in the position of acting president of Venezuela. Deputy Soto Rojas, director of the discussions at the opening of the legislative period 2026-2031 of the Venezuelan parliament, stated: "This meeting is held within the timeframe set by the constitution. The country and the world are going through an exceptional, complex, and sensitive moment. The President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro Moros, has been kidnapped by the American government in a vicious, brutal, and cowardly attack by American imperialism, the sworn enemy of the Venezuelan people, the region, and the world," emphasizing that "our people will overcome this ordeal.. imperialism is in retreat and declaring war." He added: "In response, the Supreme Court ordered the appointment of Delsi Rodriguez as interim president," concluding his remarks by saying: "We will overcome this ordeal." This official appointment to her interim position comes amid the political and security crisis that the country is experiencing following the American military operation that led to the arrest of President Maduro and his wife.
