The President Receives a Delegation of Israeli Peace Activists
SadaNews - Today, Sunday, President Mahmoud Abbas received a delegation of Israeli peace activists at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.
The President welcomed the peace activists, praising their relentless efforts aimed at achieving peace based on the two-state solution, which brings security, peace, and stability to both the Palestinian and Israeli peoples as well as the peoples of the region. He emphasized that the denial by extremist forces in Israel of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of their state alongside the state of Israel in accordance with international legitimacy will not bring security and peace to anyone, a reality we have witnessed for decades.
The President stated that we are keen on communication with all peace-supporting forces and are ready to work with all segments of Israeli society to create the peace of the brave that we were close to achieving in the Oslo agreement with the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, and we can realize it again.
He added that achieving peace through dialogue will remain our strategic option because we believe in political, diplomatic, and legal work. We condemn violence and terrorism in all their forms and names, and thus we condemned the killing and abduction of civilians carried out by Hamas on October 7, as well as the actions of the occupation forces and settlers in killing, destruction, and starving our people in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
The President continued, stating that we are committed to implementing an agenda of reform that includes holding elections after the cessation of war in Gaza, and drafting a temporary constitution that reaffirms a civil Palestinian state with pluralism and a new party law. We also reaffirm our rejection of anti-Semitism as it goes against our values and principles, emphasizing the importance of implementing the second phase of President Trump's plan, which was signed by Hamas and the mediators, and calls for Hamas to relinquish its rule over Gaza, to disarm, and for the complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, leading to reconstruction.
The President pointed out that the Israeli occupation authorities, by insisting on settlement, annexation, apartheid, the policies of killing and destruction, and denial of Palestinian rights, along with other unilateral measures, have isolated Israel in the international community. What we seek is to live in peace, stability, and good neighborliness with the Israeli people, emphasizing that the key to regional security and peace lies only in reaching a peace agreement between Palestinians and Israelis based on international legitimacy decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative, so that all peoples and states of the region may enjoy security, peace, and prosperity.
