Iran Executes Man Convicted of Spying for Israel
SadaNews - The Iranian judiciary's agency, "Mizan," reported that Tehran executed a man today (Saturday), who was convicted of spying for Israel and of having connections with opposition groups in Iran.
Iran, which has been engaged in a shadow war with Israel for decades, has executed several individuals accused of links to Israeli intelligence and facilitating its operations in the country, according to reports by "Reuters."
The Iranian Human Rights Organization, based in Oslo, stated on its "X" platform that the man, identified as a 27-year-old architecture student named Aqil Kashavarz, was sentenced to death on charges related to espionage for Israel "based on confessions extracted under torture."
The Iranian-Israeli conflict escalated into war in June when Israel struck various targets inside Iran, including through operations involving deploying special forces from Mossad deep within the country.
The execution of Iranians convicted of spying for Israel has significantly increased this year, with several death sentences carried out in recent months.
