Report: Prisoners Faisal Sab'ani and Ali Abu Atieh Suffer from Difficult Health Conditions

SadaNews - The Palestinian Authority for Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs published a serious report today, Sunday, detailing the health status of prisoner Faisal Sab'ani (65 years old) from the town of Qabatiya in the south of Jenin, and prisoner Ali Abu Atieh (29 years old) from the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, amid the continuing deterioration of detention conditions and deliberate medical neglect in Israeli occupation prisons.

The authority's lawyer stated that prisoner Sab'ani, who has been administratively detained since 25/10/2023 and is currently held in the Ramle prison clinic, was transferred from Nafha prison after suffering a heart attack on 01/11/2025. Sab'ani explained that he felt symptoms of the heart attack days before it occurred and informed the guards of the need to be taken to the clinic, but his request was denied.

On the day of his incident, Sab'ani confirmed that one of the medics assaulted him before conducting tests, and he was later transferred to "Soroka" Hospital in Be'er Sheva, where he received necessary treatment. After returning to prison, his health condition deteriorated again, and it was found that he had gallstones as of 09/11/2025, necessitating his transfer to the Ramle prison clinic to receive intravenous antibiotics around the clock.

On 17/11/2025, he was transferred to "Asaf Harofeh" Hospital after new infections appeared and received treatment there before returning on the same day to the Ramle clinic.

The authority indicated that his health status is relatively good today, but he remains under observation and may later have to undergo surgery if the treatment fails to remove the stones.

Sab'ani noted that the quantities of food provided to him in Nafha were meager since the beginning of his detention, and the situation is similar in the Ramle clinic, where prisoners confirmed that food quantities began to decrease about two months ago.

Regarding the health status of prisoner Abu Atieh, he was subjected to a violent arrest on 04/11/2025 while near his workplace close to Al-Jamal Abdul Nasser Mosque in Ramallah, where Israeli special forces infiltrated the area by a civilian bus. One of the officers, dressed in civilian clothes, approached him and informed him that he was from a special unit and asked him not to move. After complying with the orders, the soldier shot him from point-blank range in his left thigh, resulting in a broken bone.

Abu Atieh was transferred to "Shaare Zedek" Hospital in Jerusalem, where he underwent two consecutive surgeries; during the first, an internal plate and bridge were placed, and during the second, an external plate was placed.

His health status is currently stable; however, he still relies on assistance to walk, after previously being unable to move except with the help of other prisoners in addition to a mobility aid. He has attended three court sessions and has a session today, 07/12/2025.

The authority holds the Israeli occupation prison administration fully responsible for the deterioration of the health conditions of the prisoners, demanding that necessary medical care be provided and that assaults and medical neglect aimed at slowly killing the prisoners and depriving them of their right to live be stopped.
