Qatari Prime Minister: The claim that Qatar funds Hamas is unfounded
SadaNews - Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani confirmed that the accusations directed at the State of Qatar regarding funding Hamas are unfounded, emphasizing that Qatari support was directed to the Palestinian people in Gaza and not to the movement.
He explained that the relationship with Hamas began thirteen years ago at the direct request of the United States, noting that Qatar has faced criticism and attacks for hosting the movement, but this communication has contributed to achieving a ceasefire and the release of prisoners.
Sheikh Mohammed added that peace in the region cannot be achieved without the engagement of all parties, considering that targeting the mediator in the conflict is unethical and incomprehensible. He revealed that US President Donald Trump made a call to Israel after the attack on Doha and expressed his strong discontent, also asking one of his advisors to communicate with Qatar immediately. He pointed out that the Israeli strike on Doha occurred while Qatar was working to convince Hamas to accept a ceasefire agreement.
The Prime Minister stressed that his country always advocates resolving disputes through diplomatic means, affirming that Qatar will continue to support the Palestinian people but will not bear the cost of rebuilding what others have destroyed. He clarified that the residents of Gaza do not want to leave their land and cannot be forced to do so, warning that the current situation in Gaza cannot go on, and violations threaten to renew the conflict.
