Qatar's Prime Minister: Mediators are Working to Impose the Next Phase of the Gaza Agreement
SadaNews - Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani confirmed in the first session of the Doha Forum today, Saturday, that mediators are working to impose the next phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
Al Thani pointed out that the negotiations are going through a critical phase.
The Doha Forum 2025 was inaugurated today, with the presence of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the participation of heads of states, experts, and diplomats from around the world.
In his opening speech at the forum, the Qatari Prime Minister emphasized that "only just solutions create sustainable peace," indicating that "justice is absent from international law due to the lack of accountability."
He added, "We need to restore trust in the law and to create a more just international system," further stating that "the world does not need more promises, but rather justice practiced by all without double standards and responsibility borne by everyone without favoritism and courage that translates words into actions."
The Qatari Prime Minister noted that "Qatar has successfully, in cooperation with its partners, achieved a breakthrough between Colombia and the Guevara Army," considering that "progress regarding the Colombian conflict proves that responsible mediation can protect civilians."
With more than 6,000 participants and 471 speakers from around 160 countries, this year's Doha Forum is held under the theme "Establishing Justice: From Promises to Tangible Reality," and its sessions extend over Saturday and Sunday.
The current edition of the forum features Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares.
Also attending are the President of the World Economic Forum, Borge Brende, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and co-founder and former CEO of Microsoft, Bill Gates.
The first edition of the Doha Forum was held in 2001 and is considered a global platform for dialogue that brings together policy leaders and makers to discuss major challenges facing the world and to build innovative networks based on action and solutions. Under the theme "Diplomacy, Dialogue, Diversity," the forum promotes the exchange of ideas and discussions that lead to policy-making and the development of actionable recommendations, according to its website.
