Yedioth Ahronoth Reveals Names Israel Refused to Release

SadaNews Translation - Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper revealed on Friday some names of Palestinian prisoners that Israel refused to release as part of the new exchange deal.

According to the newspaper, as translated by SadaNews, Israel categorically refused to release the Secretary General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Ahmad Sa'adat, the Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti, the Hamas leader Abbas al-Sayed, and the Hamas leader Hassan Salameh.

Israel also removed from the veto it is allowed on 20 names submitted by Hamas, which originally numbered 270, reducing the actual agreed list of prisoners to be released to 250 names. Among those removed was the prisoner Abdel Hakim Awad, who carried out an attack that resulted in the deaths of members of an Israeli family in a settlement near Nablus in 2011.

The agreement stipulates that 1,700 prisoners from the Gaza Strip who did not participate in the attack of October 7 will be released, in addition to 22 minors from the area.

The prisoners released under the agreement will be deported to Gaza or to other countries that agree to accept them, with negotiations already underway with various countries, as mentioned by the newspaper and translated by SadaNews.
