Countries of the "Moscow Format" Warn Against Military Interventions and Commit to Unconditional Humanitarian Support for Afghanistan

SadaNews - Participants in the seventh meeting of the "Moscow Format" consultations on Afghanistan confirmed their support for transforming Afghanistan into an "independent, united, and peaceful" state, according to the final statement of the meeting.

The statement, published on the Telegram channel of the Russian Foreign Ministry, indicated that the participants "confirmed their support for Afghanistan's transition to an independent and peaceful state, free from terrorism and drugs," expressing their "readiness to assist Kabul in enhancing regional security."

The participating countries also called for "enhancing cooperation to combat terrorism at both bilateral and multilateral levels," in a move aimed at bolstering security and stability in the region.

The parties involved also "expressed their readiness to continue humanitarian support for the Afghan people and called on the international community to intensify the provision of emergency humanitarian assistance," emphasizing that "the politicization of this assistance is unacceptable."

In a reference to the rejection of foreign military presence, the participants warned that "countries' attempts to deploy elements of their military infrastructure in Afghanistan and neighboring countries are unacceptable," asserting that such steps "do not align with the interests of peace and regional stability."

The "Moscow Format" on Afghanistan is a platform that includes a group of active regional countries: Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Special representatives and high-level officials from these countries participate in its proceedings.

It is worth mentioning that a delegation from Belarus was invited to participate in the meeting as a guest, while the main participating countries were represented at the ministerial and special presidential representative levels, reflecting the importance these countries attach to the Afghan issue and their efforts toward achieving stability in the region.
