California Governor Attacks Trump’s Policy, Accuses the President of "Militarizing" American Cities
SadaNews - The Democratic Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, attacked the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at "militarizing" cities across the country, showcasing signs that compare crime rates in Republican-led states with those in California.
In a press conference in Sacramento, he stated: "If the president is sincere about the issue of crime and violence, there is no doubt in my mind that he would likely send troops to Louisiana and Mississippi to address the absurd wave of violence that still afflicts those states," according to what the Associated Press reported.
The Trump administration had deployed the National Guard and Marines in Los Angeles after protests over immigration erupted last June. Trump recently sent the National Guard to Washington and threatened to deploy forces in Chicago as part of a crackdown on law enforcement.
Newsom remarked: "This country needs to wake up to what is going on - not just (wake up) to the authoritarian tendencies but to the authoritarian actions by this president."
