Airstrikes on Southern Lebanon and Israel Announces Attack on Hezbollah Site
SadaNews - On Friday evening, Israeli aircraft carried out airstrikes in southern Lebanon, targeting several sites in Nabatieh; this comes as Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah continue to escalate.
Lebanese media reported that the Israeli airstrikes targeted the Ali al-Tahir area in Nabatieh, southern the country.
The Israeli army announced in a statement that it attacked military infrastructure and other underground facilities belonging to Hezbollah, noting that it had observed military activities in the Tal al-Shakif area in southern Lebanon.
This comes amid ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah, as areas in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa region are subjected to daily airstrikes resulting in martyrs, injuries, and damage.
The Israeli army publicly announces almost daily airstrikes on Lebanon, claiming that its attacks target Hezbollah elements and sites to "prevent its repositioning and upgrade its capabilities."
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Naeem Qassem, said in a speech delivered on Friday morning that the party will not lay down its arms as long as the Israeli aggression continues, adding that "the Lebanese government should work to end occupation rather than make the wrong decision under the pretext of external pressures," indicating that "the government's recent decision disarms the resistance instead of focusing on ending the occupation of Lebanese territories."
While the Lebanese government approved last week a paper from the US envoy, Tom Barak, regarding the consolidation of the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, including the disarmament of Hezbollah and assigning the army to develop an implementation plan to restrict arms by the end of this year, Hezbollah announced its rejection of the decision, stating that the government committed a "great sin in taking a decision that disarms Lebanon of the resistance against the Israeli enemy," adding, "We will treat this decision as if it does not exist."
