Netanyahu: "We are nearing the end of the war and the defeat of what remains of the Iranian axis"

SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated during the inauguration of the Knesset Museum in the "Beit Frumin" building, which was the first headquarters of the Knesset in Jerusalem today, Monday, that "the war in Gaza is close to its end along with the release of all hostages, and we are working to defeat what remains of the Iranian axis," referring to Hamas.

Netanyahu criticized the judiciary, saying that "the Knesset came from the people, in the name of the people, and for the people. The location of Beit Frumin in the heart of the city expresses an unofficial principle, which is that the people are sovereign. The people elect their representatives."

He added that "in recent years there has been a debate among the authorities. In the past, there was homogeneity and much mutual respect. We were a classical parliamentary democracy, with balances and brakes that are the basis of contemporary democracy. I hope that we can return to the understandings of those days. The people wish for that. It will benefit everyone."

Israeli President Isaac Herzog addressed Israel's position in the world and Australia's announcement that it would recognize a Palestinian state, claiming that "Israel has always sought and will always seek peace with its neighbors, including the Palestinians. We are fighting for the free world, and Australia's announcement is a dreadful and dangerous mistake that will not help the Palestinians or the hostages."

Herzog continued that "we all remember well that the Knesset is the best representation because it is the only authority elected by the people. We must preserve its independence and the independence of its members. Woe to us if there is a consensus on opinions. It is forbidden to have an audience without representation. We must fight for the right to express other opinions with respect. Otherwise, our national immunity will be undermined. Mutual respect among the three authorities must also be preserved. We are all obligated to respect the court."

Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana considered that "there is a real fear that we will once again reach bloodshed. Law enforcement agencies are obliged to confront the growing incitement, and unfortunately, they are not doing so adequately."
