14 Deaths Due to Malnutrition and Famine in Gaza Separately Last 24 Hours
SadaNews - The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that hospitals in the Gaza Strip recorded 14 new deaths in the past 24 hours as a result of famine and malnutrition, including two children who were weakened by hunger.
The same sources added that with the 14 new deaths, the total number of deaths from famine and malnutrition rises to 147, including 88 children.
Gaza is experiencing the worst humanitarian crisis in its history, as severe famine intersects with a genocide being carried out by Israel since October 7, 2023.
Israel has closed all crossings with the Gaza Strip since March 2, 2025, preventing the entry of most food and medical aid, which has led to the spread of famine within the territory.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) had warned that malnutrition among children under the age of five had doubled between March and June due to the ongoing blockade.
The World Health Organization emphasized that malnutrition rates in Gaza have reached alarming levels, attributing significant loss of life to the deliberate blockade and delay of aid, noting that nearly one in five children under the age of five in Gaza City suffers from severe malnutrition.
Tom Fletcher, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, stated that one in three people in Gaza has not eaten for days, calling for the swift delivery of aid and the establishment of a permanent ceasefire.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reported that all citizens in the Gaza Strip are hungry, but children are "the most affected." It added, "Instead of going to school, boys and girls risk their lives in hopes of obtaining some food."
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli occupation forces have launched an aggression against the Gaza Strip, resulting in the martyrdom of 59,821 citizens, the majority of whom are children and women, and injuring 144,851 others, in a non-final tally, as some victims remain under rubble and on the streets, and rescue teams are unable to reach them.
