Zamir from Gaza: If We Do Not Reach an Agreement, We Will Expand the Fighting
SadaNews Translation - The Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Eyal Zamir, stated this evening, Wednesday, that if an agreement is not reached to bring back the captives from Gaza, he will instruct to intensify the fighting extensively within the Gaza Strip.
This came during his incursion into the Gaza Strip and his inspection of his forces in various areas of the Gaza Strip.
Zamir stated, as translated by SadaNews, that we are working here to ensure that Gaza does not pose a threat to the State of Israel for generations to come, noting that Israel has paid a heavy price for this by losing many soldiers.
He pointed out that his forces continue to strike and pursue Hamas fighters, and recently killed about 1300 militants involved in the attack on October 7, pledging to continue until Hamas is decisively dealt with and overthrown.
He noted that his forces control 75 percent of the area of the Gaza Strip, saying: "We are close to a very important crossroads, and in the coming days, we will know whether we will have an agreement or not. If an agreement is reached, we will stop and prepare according to the lines specified by the political level, and if we do not reach an agreement, my guidance to the southern command is to intensify and expand the fighting as much as possible beyond what we are currently doing, and we will enter additional areas and continue operations as we have been doing until now."
