Jordanian-Palestinian Export Company: Ongoing Efforts to Export Agricultural Products from Qalqilya Abroad

SadaNews - The General Manager of the Jordanian-Palestinian Export Company, Qais Al-Qatamin, stated that the Jordanian side is discussing with the Palestinian side the mechanisms for exporting Palestinian agricultural products abroad, following directives from Jordanian King Abdullah II.

This came during Al-Qatamin's visit, along with his accompanying delegation, to the Qalqilya governorate today, Tuesday, where he clarified that the company held a meeting with Palestinian partners and is fully prepared to commence export operations, as well as to develop additional partnerships in coordination with the relevant Palestinian authorities.

For his part, the representative of the Jordanian-Palestinian Agricultural Marketing Company, Tareq Abu Khizran, affirmed that contracts with farmers are ongoing, alongside contracts that were previously established, noting that the volume of exports is expected to double this year compared to last year, which saw a noticeable decline due to the obstacles posed by the Israeli occupation and its procedures, which led to the disruption of exports, the destruction of large quantities of crops, and significant losses for farmers.

He added that the joint efforts between the Palestinian and Jordanian sides are heading towards ensuring the arrival of products to Jordan, after which mechanisms for exporting them to foreign markets will be discussed.

Meanwhile, acting Qalqilya Governor, Muhammad Khadr, briefed the visiting delegation on the reality and difficult circumstances of the governorate due to the occupation's procedures, emphasizing the importance of supporting farmers and the agricultural sector in Qalqilya, considering it primarily an agricultural city.

Khadr praised the Jordanian efforts in supporting farmers and opening avenues for marketing their products, affirming that these steps reflect the depth of the Jordanian-Palestinian partnership.
