Israeli Army Announces Killing of Militants in Southern Syria

SadaNews - The Israeli occupation army announced that its forces killed a number of militants in the security zone in southern Syria on Saturday.

It added that it will continue its operations in the region to eliminate any threats to Israeli civilians and soldiers.

Earlier, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the countryside of Dara'a and Quneitra witnessed six separate Israeli incursions into Syrian territory.

The observatory stated that the Israeli incursions took place on Friday and included raids on homes, the establishment of temporary military checkpoints, questioning a number of civilians, and the arrest of a young man from the Quneitra countryside before being released after hours.

It added that this occurred "concurrently with intense drone flights over the area, reflecting the expansion of Israeli military operations within Syrian villages."

The observatory pointed out the growing concerns that the arrest of civilians, their interrogation, and the raiding of their homes may become a recurring field policy accompanying the Israeli ground incursions into border villages.

It noted that "the Israeli forces are no longer satisfied with the intensive flights of drones and reconnaissance aircraft violating Syrian airspace; rather, they have increasingly been penetrating inhabited areas, establishing temporary checkpoints, detaining civilians for interrogation, conducting house raids, and even arresting some residents for hours."

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that 19 Israeli vehicles penetrated Friday evening into three towns in the countryside of Dara'a and Quneitra, raiding and searching several homes while drones were flying over the area.

Israel continues to penetrate southern Syria, conducting raids, arrests, land leveling, and shelling, according to SANA.

Syria continues to call for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory, emphasizing that all Israeli actions in southern Syria are void and without legal effect under international law, urging the international community to assume its responsibilities, deter Israel's practices, and compel it to fully withdraw from southern Syria.
