Strong Warning from Trump to Tehran After Striking Iranian Sites
SadaNews - On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that American fighter jets struck Iranian sites storing missiles, drones, and radar locations due to their violation of the ceasefire agreement.
In a post on his "Truth Social" account, Trump said: "U.S. planes have carried out airstrikes on Iranian missile and drone storage sites, as well as coastal radar sites, for violating the ceasefire agreement once again! They are very likely to never learn."
Trump warned that Iran "will not remain existent" if the U.S. decides to escalate, adding: "There may come a time when we are unable to be logical, and we are forced to complete the task we started militarily. If that happens, Iran will not remain standing."
The U.S. military recently stated that it targeted Iran again after hours of an attack on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, marking the worst escalation since both parties signed a temporary peace agreement.
Both countries exchanged accusations of violating the agreement they reached about two weeks ago to end the ongoing conflict for four months.
U.S. Central Command "CENTCOM" reported on Sunday that its forces carried out new strikes after a Panamanian-flagged tanker was attacked by an Iranian drone early Saturday morning.
In Iran, state-run IRIB reported early Sunday that explosions were heard in the city of Sirik, in southern Iran.
"CENTCOM" added in a statement: "Iran was given the opportunity to adhere to the ceasefire agreement, but opted not to comply."
It indicated that the strikes were a "direct response to Iran's ongoing aggression against commercial navigation" and that they targeted Iranian facilities for military surveillance, communications, air defense, drone storage, and mine-laying facilities.
Later, Fox News quoted a U.S. defense official stating that the strikes on Iranian targets were completed.
Washington had previously reported that it struck Iranian targets overnight, while Iran indicated it had attacked targets linked to U.S. forces on Saturday in retaliation.
The tanker was attacked on Saturday in the Strait of Hormuz following an assault on a cargo ship on Thursday, leading to the latest escalation of the situation.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations reported that the tanker hit on Saturday sustained damage in its bridge, but all crew members are safe.
The Joint Maritime Information Center, managed by an alliance of naval forces to protect navigation, raised the security threat level due to the recent incidents.
Iran has not directly commented on specific reports of attacks on ships, but Iranian state television reported that the Revolutionary Guard fired "warning shots" at unspecified ships attempting to pass through routes not approved by Iran.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that the country carried out attacks on military targets linked to the United States, while Bahrain reported an Iranian drone attack.
