Diversity of Beaches and Stability Revitalize the Tourism Season in Latakia
SadaNews - The coastal province of Latakia is witnessing a remarkable tourism movement, clearly evident in the congestion on the roads leading to the city, particularly those coming from nearby provinces. This scene reflects a state of relative stability experienced by the Syrian coast and an increasing interest in the maritime destinations that abound in the province.
In a tour conducted by a correspondent from "Syria Now" along the beaches of Latakia, a notable diversity in their nature was observed, which adds an extra attraction factor.
Al-Badrousia: A Sandy Beach that Attracts Aleppo Residents
The tour began in the Al-Badrousia area, located about 53 kilometers north of the center of Latakia, where a wide sandy beach extends, known locally as the favorite destination for residents of the city of Aleppo.
With the Aleppine dialect prevailing among the visitors to the area and along its shore, visitors from Aleppo confirmed that this beach holds a special significance for them, describing it as a destination that cannot be forsaken no matter how many other beaches they visit.
One of them praised the beach's spaciousness and cleanliness to the correspondent of "Syria Now," considering it a suitable choice for those seeking tranquility and a getaway from the crowd, while another pointed out that this year's turnout seems larger compared to previous seasons, coinciding with a greater fluidity in movement between provinces.
Ras al-Basit and Umm al-Tuyour: Diversity in Terrain and Services
In northern Latakia, near Al-Badrousia, lies the Ras al-Basit beach, distinguished by its beautiful nature, attracting large numbers of tourists every summer.
Meanwhile, Umm al-Tuyour beach is located 34 kilometers from the city center and is characterized by varying water levels suitable for the different swimming abilities of visitors.
A female visitor expressed her admiration for the region, which combines the sea and mountains, alongside the generosity of its residents.
Wadi Qandil: Paid Services
29 kilometers from the city lies Wadi Qandil beach, where most of its facilities are paid, unlike Al-Badrousia and Umm al-Tuyour beaches; however, it offers privacy and advanced services for families and tourist groups.
A visitor from Salamiya in the Hama countryside stated that she came as part of a family tourist group and chose the place for its cleanliness and the quality of its restaurants and facilities.
Another visitor emphasized that Latakia is "the mother of tourism and beauty in Syria," stressing that it is the first destination for any Syrian thinking of spending a summer vacation, especially with the availability of safe and stable atmospheres.
"Maldives of Syria" for Professional Swimmers
23 kilometers from the provincial center lies Burj Islam beach, also known as Turkmen Cross, which is locally referred to as "Maldives of Syria" due to its deep waters and distinctive color, and its high rocks make it an ideal destination for skilled swimmers.
One of the locals warned visitors during a talk with the "Syria Now" correspondent about the dangers of the beach due to its high altitude and deep waters, advising not to approach it except for those with sufficient swimming experience.
City Beaches: Vibrant and Heavily Visited
In the center of Latakia city, several beaches are spread out for vacationers, foremost among them Ibn Hani and the Blue Beach, where a significant turnout and noticeable congestion were recorded, along with a wide variety of services, restaurants, and cafes, making them the closest option for city residents and visitors seeking an active and lively atmosphere.
With the living crisis that large segments of Syrians are still suffering from, the diverse areas of Latakia offer options suitable for different classes, especially in the summer when families seek vacation spots with the end of the school year and rising temperatures.
