Pentagon: America Decides to Withdraw 5,000 Troops from Germany
SadaNews - The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced late Friday to Saturday that the United States will withdraw 5,000 troops from Germany, seemingly as a reprimand to its close NATO ally amid growing tensions between President Donald Trump and Europe regarding the Iran war.
Trump had threatened earlier this week to reduce troop numbers after a dispute with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who stated on Monday that the Iranians are humiliating the United States in talks aimed at ending the two-month-long war. Shawn Barnhill, the Pentagon's chief spokesperson, stated that the troop withdrawal will be completed over a period of six to twelve months.
