Occupation Discusses Building 126 Settlement Units in Sanur North of the West Bank

SadaNews - The so-called "High Planning Council" of the Israeli occupation authorities is discussing, today, Wednesday, a number of structural plans for the expansion of several settlements, including a plan to approve the construction of 126 colonial units in the "Sanur" settlement in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, which was evacuated in 2005 as part of the "Disengagement Plan".

Israeli media reported that the plan includes the construction of private homes and buildings near the historic castle, marking the first plan reactivated in previously evacuated settlements.

Last Sunday, the occupation authorities announced the revival of the "Sanur" settlement during a ceremony attended by Yossi Dagan, head of the Northern West Bank Settlements Council, and several Israeli ministers and officials, including the Minister of Defense of the occupation Israel Katz, and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, along with several settlement leaders.

The "Disengagement Plan" is a unilateral Israeli plan carried out in the summer of 2005 by then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, under which the settlements and military camps in the Gaza Strip and four settlements in the northern West Bank were evacuated.

In March 2023, the Israeli Knesset approved the cancellation of the "Disengagement Plan", passing a new law called "Repeal of the Disengagement Law".
