Occupation Arrests Journalist Ahmad Jalajel from Al-Aqsa Mosque Courtyards
SadaNews - Israeli occupation forces arrested a journalist from inside the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Thursday evening.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that the occupation forces arrested journalist Ahmad Jalajel from within the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and took him to one of their centers.
On Wednesday evening, the occupation forces arrested photojournalist Ibrahim Al-Sanjlawi from the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque before releasing him with a decision to ban him from the mosque for a week, subject to renewal.
The Palestinian Journalists' Union condemned the escalating targeting campaign by Israeli occupation forces against Jerusalemite Palestinian journalists, as well as the decision issued by the Israeli Defense Minister banning the work of four Palestinian media outlets in Jerusalem, labeling them as "terrorist entities," and pursuing their workers through arrest, summons, and intimidation.
The union emphasized that this Israeli campaign targeting Palestinian journalism in Jerusalem constitutes a blatant assault on freedom of the press and a clear violation of international laws and charters that guarantee the protection of journalists while performing their duties. It holds the occupation authorities fully responsible for the safety of its journalist colleagues and calls on international human rights institutions and all organizations concerned with press freedom to take immediate action to put an end to these egregious violations and provide protection for Palestinian journalists.
