Cabinet Calls for Immediate International Action to Stop Settler Terrorism

SadaNews - Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Mustafa began the weekly Cabinet session today, Monday, informing Council members about the political movements led by the President to rally international support for the rights of our people.

The Cabinet called on the international community to take immediate action to stop settler terrorism in the West Bank. The Council warned of the danger posed by organized settler militias that terrorize Palestinian villages and towns, committing systematic crimes against civilians, including physical assaults, arson, uprooting trees, and terrorizing residents, without any deterrent or accountability from the Israeli government, which provides them with the necessary cover and support for expansion, in clear violation of international law.

The Council also warned our people in the Gaza Strip of "suspicious" companies that manage displacement operations under humanitarian slogans, exploiting the harsh conditions faced by our people in the Strip, which has exposed many of them to real dangers. The Council emphasized that the Palestinian government is the only authorized entity to coordinate the travel of citizens, ensuring their security and preserving their rights.

As part of the government's initiative to enhance energy security, the Council approved the formation of a steering committee to follow up and implement the "Palestine Solar" program, which involves establishing solar energy projects with a capacity of 1 megawatt, in addition to a battery storage system for 22 local authorities in the first phase out of a total of 45 authorities meeting the criteria, through the establishment of a revolving interest-free lending fund and partial grants totaling up to 20 million dollars in partnership with the United Nations Development Program.

Within the framework of the reform of the Palestinian health system, which is being implemented in cooperation with the World Bank, the Council approved the contractual framework with hospitals receiving medical referrals, as this project will help organize the relationship between the Ministry of Health and national hospitals, especially concerning referral mechanisms, billing, and pricing. This will also secure payments to national hospitals to cover as much of the treatment expenses as possible within the allocated amounts.

In continuation of the government's plan to settle debts with local authorities, also known as net lending, the debts of 28 local entities in water and electricity were confirmed through cooperation between the ministries of finance, local governance, and the water and energy authorities.

The Council also approved the purchase of supplies for the Palestinian Electricity Transmission Company to use in monitoring load performance, which will help in controlling outages due to load pressure or high temperatures.

To expand the Water Authority's interventions in Gaza and maintain supply lines, the Council approved renting a new headquarters for the Water Authority in Deir al-Balah to enhance its interventions in meeting citizens' needs.

Additionally, the Council approved the recommendations of the permanent ministerial administrative committee, including approving the organizational structure and job description cards for the Ministry of Industry, and adopting the job description card for the General Director of the National Center for Agricultural Research. Heads of governmental departments were also tasked with studying the criteria for establishing organizational structures for governmental departments.
