UNRWA: Thousands of Displaced Persons in Damaged and Crowded Buildings in Gaza
SadaNews - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced that nearly 75,000 displaced persons in the Gaza Strip are seeking refuge in more than 100 of its buildings, despite most of these facilities being damaged due to Israeli bombing and overcrowding with displaced individuals.
The agency clarified through a post on the "X" platform that the humanitarian conditions in these shelters have become extremely harsh, with severe shortages of water, food, and basic necessities, warning of a deterioration in health conditions and the spread of diseases due to overcrowding and poor sanitation.
It emphasized that its teams continue to work despite limited resources to provide urgent assistance to the displaced, calling on the international community to take immediate action to ensure the protection of civilians and improve the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the region.
It noted that 90% of Gaza's population is suffering from malnutrition.
