Egypt's Intelligence Chief Goes to Israel to Discuss Cementing Ceasefire in Gaza
SadaNews - The head of Egypt's General Intelligence, Major General Hassan Mahmoud Rashad, is heading to Israel today, Tuesday.
He is scheduled to hold meetings with Israeli officials to discuss cementing the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, facilitating the entry of aid, and overcoming obstacles to implementing President Trump's proposal.
The Egyptian intelligence chief will also meet with the U.S. envoy to the Middle East, Steve Weitzman, who is currently visiting Israel.
This comes as the city of Gaza is being bombed, with the Israeli occupation army launching strikes east of the Shuja'iyya neighborhood early this Monday, despite the truce and the announcement of a ceasefire.
According to "Channel 12" in Israel, Weitzman and Kushner warned Netanyahu against endangering the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
Weitzman and Kushner's message to Netanyahu was firm, according to the Israeli channel, stating: "Israel can only defend itself without threatening the agreement."
Meanwhile, the American press reported an increasing concern among U.S. envoys and even across the entire Trump administration.
Kushner and Weitzman acknowledged that the ceasefire agreement they negotiated is at risk of collapsing, as mentioned by a senior U.S. official in the White House to the "New York Times."
Thus, the trio of DeVance, Weitzman, and Kushner has been tasked with one primary mission: to prevent Netanyahu from resuming a full-scale attack on Hamas, as confirmed by U.S. officials to the "New York Times."
U.S. officials also added that Trump believes Hamas leaders are willing to continue negotiations in good faith, and that the attack on Israeli soldiers was carried out by "a fringe element of the movement," as he put it.
