Hacker Breaches Airport Loudspeakers in Canada and the U.S. to Praise ‘Hamas’ and Criticize Trump

SadaNews - Officials and news reports indicated that cyber intruders took control of public address systems on Tuesday at four airports, three in Canada and one in the United States, to broadcast messages praising the ‘Hamas’ movement and criticizing U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Kelowna stated that the ‘advertisement broadcasting service’ at Kelowna International Airport in British Columbia was ‘briefly compromised, and unauthorized content was published.’

The police added that they are investigating the breach with other agencies and refrained from providing further details.

The cyber intruders broadcast messages and music through the loudspeaker system at Victoria International Airport in British Columbia, according to a spokesperson for the airport.

The spokesperson said that the hackers gained access to the loudspeaker system through third-party software, and the airport switched to an internal system to regain control.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated via social media on Wednesday that the hackers also took control of the loudspeaker system at Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania.

He added that the Federal Aviation Administration and airport officials are investigating the matter.

The intruders also breached the flight information display screens and the loudspeaker system on Tuesday evening at Windsor International Airport in Ontario, displaying ‘unauthorized pictures and announcements,’ according to airport officials.

The airport mentioned in a statement that the breach occurred ‘at a software provider’ used by the airport, adding: ‘Our systems returned to normal shortly thereafter.’
