Trump Arrives in Sharm El-Sheikh and Exchanges Welcomes With Sisi, Commending Each Other's Efforts to Stop the War
SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump arrived this evening, Monday, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, to participate in a summit with leaders and heads of Arab, Islamic, and international nations.
Trump arrived three hours late from his scheduled time, coming from Israel where he delivered a speech before the "Knesset" discussing the "dawning of a historic era for a new Middle East."
The summit is expected to witness the signing of an agreement to ensure a ceasefire between Israel and "Hamas" after two years of devastating war.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi welcomed Trump at Sharm El-Sheikh airport before they both headed to the venue of the international conference.
Upon their arrival at the hall, Sisi welcomed Trump, while Trump praised the Egyptian president.
Trump stated, "We are experiencing a very distinguished time in the Middle East," commending Sisi’s role, which he said had played a crucial part in the peace process.
He noted that the strikes against Iran aided in the completion of the Gaza deal, indicating that Iran would join the agreements later and would need some help to finalize the deal.
Returning to Gaza, he stated that teams were searching for the bodies of the Israeli hostages in Gaza, mentioning that talks about the second phase of the agreement had begun.
The U.S. president said, "We will see a lot of progress in the Middle East."
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Egypt had played an important role in hosting the negotiations concerning Gaza.
He added, "This is not just about Gaza but rather a transformation the region is undergoing."
Meanwhile, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff said, "We are working on implementing the Gaza agreement, and I will stay in the region with Jared Kushner for some time."
For his part, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said that the Gaza agreement is a great achievement, and we appreciate what President Trump has accomplished.
He added, "President Trump is the only one capable of achieving peace in the region."
He paid tribute to the U.S. president for the great achievement of reaching the Gaza agreement.
He emphasized the necessity of ensuring that aid enters Gaza and that the bodies of the Israeli hostages are delivered to their families.
