Trump "Confident" That the Ceasefire in Gaza "Will Hold"
SadaNews - American President Donald Trump expressed his confidence that the ceasefire that came into effect in the Gaza Strip on Friday "will hold" because Israel and the Palestinian movement "Hamas" are tired of fighting.
Trump told reporters at the White House: "It will hold. I believe it will hold. They are all tired of fighting," reiterating that he will visit Israel and Egypt, the mediators in the negotiations, at the end of this week, according to the "Agence France-Presse."
He added that he will meet in Egypt on Monday with "many leaders" to discuss the future of Gaza, which has been devastated by a two-year war, noting that the meeting will likely take place in Cairo.
The American president indicated that the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza "will return" on Monday, stating that nearly 28 bodies will be recovered.
He added that he thinks he will address the Israeli Knesset on Monday before his visit to Egypt, and he will return to the United States on Tuesday.
Trump considered that the ceasefire in Gaza would lead to broader peace in the Middle East.
He said: "We have some small hotspots currently, but they are very small... It will be very easy to extinguish them. These fires will be controlled very quickly."
