Trump: Hamas has three or four days to accept Gaza plan
SadaNews - President Donald Trump stated today, Tuesday, that he and his team are waiting for Hamas to accept the peace plan for Gaza that he proposed yesterday.
Trump told reporters while leaving the White House that Israeli and Arab leaders have accepted the plan and "we are only waiting for (Hamas)."
He added that there is not much room for negotiation with Hamas, which "has three or four days to accept the Gaza plan."
A knowledgeable Palestinian official confirmed that Hamas began on Tuesday to study the U.S. president's peace plan for the Gaza Strip within its leadership frameworks and with Palestinian factions, according to the French Press Agency.
The official, who is close to Hamas, stated that the movement "is starting today a series of consultations within its political and military leadership frameworks both inside Palestine and abroad and will present a national response that represents the movement and the resistance factions," noting that the consultations "might take several days."
Moreover, Qatar announced a meeting in Doha between Hamas and an Egyptian delegation to discuss Trump's plan, confirming that the Palestinian movement's delegation promised to study it "responsibly."
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari said during a press conference in Doha, "The State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt yesterday conducted meetings here in Doha with the negotiating delegation from Hamas, handing over the plan, and the negotiating delegation promised to study it responsibly."
Trump received approval from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding a Washington-sponsored peace proposal. After talks between Trump and Netanyahu in Washington, the White House revealed a 20-point plan that includes an immediate ceasefire, exchanging hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners in Israel, a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, disarming Hamas, and a transitional government led by international oversight.
