The White House: Iran Made a Tragic Decision But Seeks to Reach an Agreement
SadaNews - White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated that Iran is still in talks with the United States and expresses its desire to reach an agreement, confirming that negotiations have not ended despite the ongoing American strikes on Iran in recent days.
Levitt added, during a press briefing on Thursday, in response to a question about whether the negotiations had hit a dead end or completely ended, that she spoke with President Donald Trump about an hour ago, noting that Iran "continues to talk with the United States and expresses its desire to reach an agreement with us, as it is facing devastating strikes from the U.S. military."
She attributed the recent strikes to what she described as Iran's violation of the memorandum of understanding signed with Washington, explaining that the memorandum obliges Tehran not to fire upon commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
She continued, "Iran has unfortunately made a tragic decision for itself by doing that, and President Trump will not stand idly by and allow these terrorist acts in the strait without ensuring that Iran pays the price, and that is what we are witnessing now."
