OIC Strongly Condemns Colombia's Move to Open Embassy in Jerusalem

SadaNews - The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has strongly condemned the agreement reported by the media regarding Colombia's intention to open an embassy in the occupied city of Jerusalem, considering this step a regrettable retreat from Colombia's historical positions supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. It could harm the relationships and common interests between Colombia and the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as per the resolutions issued by it.

The General Secretariat confirmed its rejection of this illegal step as it constitutes a blatant violation of the United Nations resolutions, particularly Security Council Resolutions 476 and 478, which emphasize that any Israeli actions aimed at altering the character of the city of Jerusalem or its legal and demographic status are considered void and invalid, calling on states to withdraw their diplomatic missions from the holy city.

The General Secretariat called on the Government of Colombia to retract this illegal decision and to support international efforts aimed at achieving peace based on the two-state solution, as well as to adhere to its responsibilities under the relevant UN Charter and resolutions.
