Egyptian Foreign Minister: We are Pushing for a Comprehensive Deal to End the War on Gaza

SadaNews - Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel Atti, stated today, Monday, that his country, which is leading mediation efforts with Doha and Washington, is pushing for a complete agreement and a comprehensive deal to end the war in the Gaza Strip. This came according to what the Egyptian minister said in a press conference in Cairo with his Ivorian counterpart, Leon Kaku Adom, who is visiting Cairo. Abdel Atti mentioned that his country "will not stop its mediation efforts and is working with mediators to finalize a ceasefire deal in Gaza." He added, "We are pushing towards resuming the negotiation process in Gaza, and there is still a possibility if there are improved intentions and if there is political will to reach a complete agreement and a comprehensive deal to end the war." He confirmed that "Israel is pursuing a policy of extermination in the Gaza Strip and imposing severe restrictions on the entry of aid" into the besieged Gaza Strip. He added, "We are conducting intensive communications with presidential directions with all international partners to warn against the repercussions of irresponsible Israeli statements and decisions regarding the complete re-occupation of Gaza." These statements by Abdel Atti come after a source informed "Al-Araby Al-Jadid" website that a leadership delegation from Hamas, headed by the movement's chief in Gaza, Khalil Hayya, visited Cairo as part of the mediators' efforts to resume indirect negotiations with Israel to reach a ceasefire agreement in the sector and finalize a prisoner swap deal. The same source mentioned that the negotiation channels between Cairo and Hamas were resumed with Turkish mediation, following a visit by a leadership delegation from the movement to Ankara last week and their meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, and other officials to discuss developments in the situation and efforts to ceasefire in Gaza. The source pointed out that Cairo has expressed its readiness to receive a Hamas delegation as part of new regional efforts to reconcile viewpoints amid the field and political complexities facing the Palestinian scene, and under regional and international pressures to halt the escalation and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
