
Putin and Netanyahu Discuss the Situation in the Middle East in a Phone Call
SadaNews - The Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Kremlin's statement said: "A phone conversation took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on July 28."
The statement added: "Various aspects of the tense situation in the Middle East were discussed. The Russian side reaffirmed its firm stance calling for an exclusive peaceful resolution to the existing problems and conflicts in the region."
It continued: "Vladimir Putin specifically emphasized the importance of supporting the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Syria, and enhancing its internal political stability by considering the legitimate rights and interests of all ethnic and religious groups among the population."
The statement also noted that "in light of the recent escalation in the Iranian-Israeli confrontation, the Russian side expressed its readiness to do everything possible to facilitate finding negotiated solutions regarding the Iranian nuclear program. The two leaders agreed to continue discussions on the current issues on the international and bilateral agenda."
The statement concluded: "The two leaders agreed to continue the dialogue on current issues on the international and bilateral agenda."
