Finance Minister Signs Agreements Worth Over 16 Million Euros to Develop Sewage Water in Jenin

SadaNews - The Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Istifan Salameh, has signed two new agreements as part of the (Renewal) project aimed at developing sewage water management and the reuse of treated water in the West Jenin area. This was during an official ceremony held at the ministry building, attended by representatives of donor agencies, international and local partners, and the Palestinian Water Authority.

The signed agreements include:

  • An agreement worth 11.2 million euros funded by the German Development Bank (KFW).
  • An agreement worth 5.1 million euros funded by the European Union and the French Development Agency (AFD).

Dr. Salameh explained that the project extends over five years with a total budget of 31.7 million euros, which includes previous agreements made with the French Development Agency (AFD) worth 15 million euros within the same comprehensive financing framework.

The minister emphasized that the project is part of the government's commitment to supporting sustainable development and improving the quality of services for citizens. He noted that the project includes the construction of a sewage treatment plant, the implementation of water and sewage networks in five villages in the West Jenin area, as well as training personnel and building institutional capacities for the West Jenin Water Department, ensuring operational efficiency and sustainability of the services provided to citizens.
