Japanese Funding: Signing a Grant Agreement with the Iskaka Village Council to Upgrade the Electricity Network
SadaNews - Today, Monday, at the office of the Japanese representative in Palestine in Ramallah, a grant agreement was signed under the program of assistance for community projects and humanitarian security (GGP), between the Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs, and the Japanese representative in Palestine, Arai Ki Katsuhiko, and the head of the Iskaka Village Council, Osama Zaher, for an amount of $132,500.
According to this grant, the Iskaka Village Council will install a transformer with a capacity of 400 kilovolt-amperes, an electricity distribution panel, and a new network tower.
A medium voltage electricity line will also be established, 390 meters long, to connect the new transformer with the existing transformer, in addition to converting 510 meters of existing medium voltage lines into underground lines. Approximately 250 families (about 1,250 inhabitants), along with a school and clinic in the village, will benefit from this project. The project aims to enhance the capacity of the electricity network in the village, reduce voltage drops, and contribute to providing a more stable and safe electricity supply.
The ambassador congratulated Arai Ki representatives of the Iskaka Village Council and wished them success in implementing the project, reaffirming Japan's firm commitment to supporting the Palestinian people from a humanitarian security perspective, and emphasizing the importance of implementing social and economic development projects that meet the needs of Palestinian communities.
Since 1993, the Japanese government has provided nearly $2.6 billion in official development assistance to the Palestinian people, while the projects of the community projects and humanitarian security (GGP) assistance program have been implemented in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority since 2010.
