Hamas: The Resignation of the Government Work Committee Came in Response to National Interest and to Remove the Occupation's Pretexts
SadaNews - Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem confirmed that the movement took a new positive step today towards implementing what it has always declared, that it will not be part of the arrangements for the post-management of the Gaza Strip.
Qassem clarified today, Monday, that this step was announced with the resignation of the Government Work Committee in Gaza, keeping only the purely technical and administrative aspects to monitor the situation. He emphasized that this move came in response to the national interest and to remove the pretexts of the occupation.
He pointed out that since the onset of the Zionist war on the Gaza Strip, several formulas had been proposed for managing the area in a national and consensual manner, ultimately resulting in the national committee that was agreed upon in Cairo, which the occupation has not yet allowed access to Gaza.
He noted that the movement's decision came after confirming that all steps to hand over governance to this national committee had been completely fulfilled in a professional, technical, and administrative manner, hoping that this decision would be a step towards opening a wider space for the agreed-upon national committee to enter the Gaza Strip.
