Trump: Iran Will Agree to Inspections to Ensure "Nuclear Transparency"

SadaNews - As technical talks continue in Switzerland, U.S. President Donald Trump stated in a post on "Truth Social" today that Iran will agree to conduct major weapons inspections to ensure "nuclear transparency" in the long term.

This came after his vice president made similar statements, with Vance announcing a few hours earlier that Iran had agreed to invite inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to return, indicating that discussions regarding nuclear inspections could begin in the coming days, possibly as early as this week.

Vance considered the return of the inspectors a "significant step that marks the beginning of a path" aimed at ensuring that Iran's nuclear program does not turn into a military program.

On the other hand, commenting on Vance's statement, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei stated that Tehran's dealings with the IAEA would continue according to current procedures.

Baghaei stressed that any path in this regard remains contingent upon the approval of the Iranian Parliament and the Supreme National Security Council, in response to the United States' announcement of Tehran's approval for the inspectors' return.

"Diplomatic Moves"

Following the Switzerland round, American and Iranian officials are expected to resume their diplomatic efforts.

The head of the Iranian negotiating delegation and Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, departed Tehran for the Omani capital Muscat on an urgent official visit.

Qalibaf is accompanied on this visit by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, where they are expected to discuss arrangements regarding the management of the Strait of Hormuz.

The U.S. State Department also announced an upcoming trip by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the Arabian Gulf, marking the first diplomatic move by Rubio in the region following the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.
