Haaretz: Colonialism in Northern West Bank is Accelerating and Changing the Reality on the Ground

SadaNews - The Hebrew newspaper "Haaretz" has confirmed that colonial projects in the northern West Bank are being implemented at a very rapid pace.

The newspaper stated on its website that "there is a revolution taking place in the northern West Bank, where colonizers are working to realize their dreams in settlements that were evacuated 20 years ago. "

It referred to the "disengagement plan" executed by the government of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in the summer of 2005, which included the evacuation of settlements and military camps in the Gaza Strip, in addition to four settlements in the northern West Bank.

The newspaper added that the colonial project is progressing at an extremely rapid pace, transforming into a reality on the ground by displacing tens of thousands of Palestinians from their lands, with support and facilitation from the Israeli occupation army.

"Haaretz" reported that sources in the Israeli army indicated that senior officials believe these steps could ignite conflict in the region.

It further added that representatives of the settlers within the government are achieving political gains while the army allows and supports these movements, noting that this "revolution" has begun to accelerate immediately after the formation of the far-right Israeli government, and that the events of October 7, 2023, have increased its pace.

The Netanyahu government is implementing rapidly expanding colonial policies that include the seizure of lands and the imposition of new realities on the ground, while the international community considers the settlements in the occupied territories to be illegal and an obstacle to the two-state solution.
