DeVance: We Strive for a "Long-Term" Settlement of the Iran Nuclear Issue
SadaNews - JD Vance, the U.S. Deputy to President Donald Trump, stated that the United States can achieve a long-term settlement regarding the Iranian nuclear issue.
Vance's remarks come amid reports of tensions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding missile strikes on Iran, with Israel favoring a more hardline approach.
Fox News reported Vance stating, "We have many common interests between Israelis and the United States."
He added, "But we also have some positions where our interests differ, and I believe the President (Donald Trump) has been very clear about this, which is that while Israel has its own goals, the main objective of the United States regarding Iran is to ensure that Iran does not possess a nuclear weapon."
Vance continued, "Over the past year and a half, we have created the necessary conditions that lead the President to believe - and I think he is right - that we can reach a long-term settlement regarding the Iranian nuclear issue."
He stated, "Israel may like this, or it may not, but we fundamentally believe that this serves the interest of the United States," adding that Washington will continue to strive to achieve this goal because "this is what the President of the United States was elected to do."
