Political crisis strikes Netanyahu's coalition as opposition prepares to dissolve the Knesset

Translation by SadaNews - The Israeli right-wing government coalition experienced a new political crisis on Tuesday evening, with the announcement from the Yahadut HaTorah party of its lack of confidence in coalition leader Benjamin Netanyahu.

The spiritual leader of the Haredi party, Rabbi Dov Landau, sent a message to the party's Knesset members, confirming that there is no longer trust in Netanyahu, and urging them to work towards dissolving the Knesset as soon as possible.

In his message, as translated by SadaNews, Landau emphasized that he would work with the leadership of the Haredi parties to implement what is in the best interest of the Haredi Jews and the beis medrash schools.

He stated: The term "bloc" no longer exists for us.

This follows reports from Kan Hebrew channel that Moshe Gafni, the leader of the bloc, rejected Netanyahu's request for a meeting between them yesterday, as well as his refusal to respond to a call from the latter.

This comes against the backdrop of a crisis regarding the Haredi conscription law.

In light of these developments, Yisrael Beiteinu party, led by Avigdor Lieberman, in coordination with the Yesh Atid party led by Yair Lapid, has decided to present a bill to dissolve the Knesset on Wednesday.

Netanyahu is in contact with Shas party leader Aryeh Deri, trying to stop any movements from Yahadut HaTorah towards dissolving the Knesset.

Netanyahu has a strong relationship with Deri, and it is expected that the latter will not oppose Yahadut HaTorah's movements and may even work to support them.
