Injuries and Arrests in the West Bank as Occupation Raids Continue North of Jerusalem for the Second Day
SadaNews - Israeli occupation forces intensified their raids last night and into the early hours of Tuesday across various areas of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, involving wide-scale arrests and turning Palestinian homes into military outposts, alongside ongoing assaults by settlers.
For the second consecutive day, the occupation forces continue to impose a tight siege and conduct raids in areas north of Jerusalem, having invaded the towns of Anata and Kafr Aqab, in addition to the Qalandiya and Shuafat refugee camps, amid heavy military reinforcements.
The forces also expanded their incursion into the Qalandiya camp, forcing one family to evacuate their home and turn it into a military outpost, while simultaneously launching a large-scale arrest campaign in the area, as part of a continuous field escalation affecting several areas in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
A Palestinian boy was injured and a child was arrested during clashes that erupted with the occupation forces following a raid on the Al-Arroub camp north of Hebron, south of the West Bank, where forces used live ammunition during the confrontations that the camp experienced.
In a related development, local sources reported that occupation forces assaulted several Palestinians and obstructed the movement of their vehicles in the southern part of Hebron city, as part of tightened field measures.
Additionally, a march by settlers started from the "Eyes of Abu Seif" area towards "Afqikis" west of the city of Dura, under the protection of occupation forces, amidst a surge in settler activity in the region.
The occupation forces continue to raid the Qalandiya refugee camp and the towns of Al-Ram and Kafr Aqab north of occupied Jerusalem for more than 24 hours now, in an ongoing military operation accompanied by wide-scale arrests, house raids, and property destruction.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that the raid has been ongoing since the early hours of dawn, with occupation forces conducting search and destruction operations across dozens of homes, forcing some residents to evacuate before turning their homes into military outposts, alongside extensive troop dispersal and drone activity in the skies.
The escalation has resulted in injuries to several Palestinians from live ammunition and others due to physical assaults, along with tens of cases of suffocation recorded due to the tear gas canisters fired within residential neighborhoods, amidst extensive use of live ammunition.
The forces also launched a large-scale arrest campaign targeting more than 35 Palestinians, in addition to detaining dozens of others and subjecting them to field interrogations inside homes, which led to near-complete paralysis of movement within the targeted areas due to road closures and blockades.
Simultaneously, the occupation forces issued demolition notices for dozens of residential and commercial structures around the raid area, in a concurrent escalation with the ongoing military operations in northern Jerusalem.
The Jerusalem Governorate confirmed that the raid is still ongoing with the arrival of additional military reinforcements, warning of serious consequences from the escalation, and calling for urgent international intervention to stop the continuous violations against the civilian population.
This comes amid a surge in escalation in the West Bank, where 103 arrests, 175 raids of cities and towns, as well as the destruction of 26 facilities and properties, and strict restrictions imposed through checkpoints and closures were recorded last week.
Statistics also indicate that 1,819 assaults were carried out during the month of March, including 1,322 assaults by occupation forces and 497 assaults by settlers, against the backdrop of a noticeable increase in the rate of violations against Palestinians.
