Comprehensive Strike in Government Hospitals in Protest of Salary Crisis
SadaNews - All medical staff in Palestinian government hospitals have entered a comprehensive strike, only dealing with life-saving cases, in protest against the Palestinian government’s failure to regularly disburse salaries, recently limiting payments to an amount of 2000 shekels for all employees.
The Palestinian Ministry of Finance announced last Sunday that it secured a payment of 2000 shekels as part of the January 2026 salary for all civil and military public sector employees of various grades and ranks, which was disbursed on Monday, April 20.
This action by the Palestinian government comes amid the ongoing Israeli government's confiscation of clearance funds for the twelfth consecutive month, a decrease in local revenues due to the repercussions of regional conflict, and the difficulty of securing new bank loans, exacerbating the financial crisis and leading to increased protests in vital sectors.
